In
2005, the Pediatric Ethics Consortium (PEC) was created in order
to provide a virtual space for people and technologies focused on
ethical issues in medical care of and research on children. Participants
come from around the United States (and abroad) in the disciplines
of philosophical ethics, religious ethics, clinical medicine, nursing,
social work, research, law, and more. The PEC offers opportunities
for discussion among the members through a listserv and participants'
directory as well as identification of resources through web pages,
data archives, and links. The PEC is directly related to ASBH through
the Pediatric Ethics Affinity Group which meets annually in conjunction
with each October's ASBH national conference. To find out more about
PEC, check out our website at www.pediatricethics.org
or contact D. Micah Hester (PEC Coordinator) at hesterdm@uams.edu.

on Affinity Groups on the home page of the ASBH
Web site for a complete list of Affinity Groups and leaders’
contact information.
ASBH's
Advisory Committee on Ethics Standards (ACES) has been charged with
surveying the membership on the need for a code of ethics. In preparation,
they have drafted a letter
explaining one common purpose of codes. A second
letter describes six other organizational purposes that codes
can further. Both letters are posted at www.asbh.org.
Comments are invited and may be directed to the ACES Chair, Ken
Kipnis at kkipnis@hawaii.edu.
